Gossypia shop is in a charming corner townhouse. The customer can begin on the ground floor and find a large selection of clothing lines such as Eileen Fisher, Flax, Steel Pony, etc. plus many beautiful accessories. The jewelry collection is eclectic (notably stunning turquoise and many earrings to complement any clothing).

Continuing to the second floor there is a SALE room and another area of lovely special occasion and informal bridal dresses. Throughout the store are interesting pieces of Latin American folk-art for sale, personally selected by the owner.

The shop carries many hand-crafted nativities plus a fascinating collection of “Day of the Dead” art.

About the Shop Owner

Amanda Lasker is originally from the Mississippi Delta area in Louisiana. She grew up on a cotton farm named “Gossypia”, which means “cotton” in Latin. She lived in Mexico and Central America before she was married and became interested in opening a retail shop through the beautiful folk art and handcrafted clothing in the Latin American shops. She opened Gossypia in 1968 and expanded the merchandise and clothing lines as she continued to travel throughout the world. She is now married with children and grandchildren.
