Today’s post is brought to you by Salon deZEN.
With Valentine’s Day coming up this week, we’re rounding out the end of Engagement Season. If you’re counting yourself among the recently engaged, congratulations! Planning your wedding can be a daunting task, but luckily planning your wedding day hair and makeup can be fun and exciting.
Here’s our best tips of what to know when you start planning your look for the big day:
1) Do your research.
Find a stylist that you click with, who understands your personal style, and who you feel comfortable communicating with. You’ll want to be confident that your stylist can understand and envision your wedding day look to get you looking just the way you want.
2) Plan Ahead.
Once you’ve done your research and found your perfect stylist make sure you book them in advance to make sure they’re available. This is especially important if you’ll need your stylist to work their magic on site for your big day, or if you’d like them to style your bridal party as well. Expect a contract to make sure that all the details are in order.
3) Gather your inspiration.
Make a Pinterest board with hair and makeup inspiration photos and have it ready to show your stylist. Also make sure to have a photo of yourself in your dress so your stylist can get an idea of your whole look for the day. This will help your stylist understand exactly what you’re looking for and might even give them some ideas to suggest that you hadn’t thought of. Check out our Pinterest boards to get started.
4) Schedule a consultation and book a trial run.
Be prepared to book a consultation and trial run to make sure that your look is absolutely perfect. It’s not every day that most of us have professional hair and makeup done, so a trial run can help make sure that the style you think you want is perfect for your event and your style. This will allow you to make sure that you’re comfortable in your hairstyle and that the makeup you’ve chosen works well for your skin type. This will also help you plan how much time the styling will take on the big day so that you can spend your glam time relaxing instead of feeling rushed.
5) Book regular services at least 2 weeks before your big day.
Book any routine hair color, cut, or waxing a few weeks in advance to allow time for any adjustments if needed. Your stylist can advise you during your consultation about what to book beforehand and when.
Don’t forget that the best accessory on your big day is a warm and glowing smile. We at Salon deZEN wish you all the best on your wedding day!
