Everyday I struggle to find the balance between family and business and an ever increasing number of volunteer gigs in Alexandria. Luckily I’ve found a spot to go hide once or twice a week and really get some much needed stress relief and down time.
A few years back I was suffering from insomnia that started after an overseas trip and never really stopped. I tried virtually everything from Benadryl and prescription sleep medications to diet changes. Someone suggested to me that I try acupuncture. I wasn’t too excited about the idea, as I don’t handle needles well, but I was desperate for change. I did some asking around and was pointed to Linda Wentz, the owner of Holistic Touch (309 S. Washington Street). Linda put me at ease on that first appointment and made sure to do a back treatment so that I didn’t see any of the needles. And really, they were so small that I barely felt them! Then she turned down the lights, played some soothing music and left the room. For 20 or so minutes, I was forced to be immobile and just relax. It was absolutely amazing and restorative. I was hooked immediately.
I kept seeing Linda weekly and was quickly sleeping again. She helped treat my seasonal allergies, provided treatments during my pregnancy and even helped jump start my labor when my little one was 11 days overdue!
I joined their membership program, which reduced the cost of the treatments and also gave me a free monthly massage or facial, which is how I found Silvy and her amazing facial treatments! Silvy has a holistic health education background that is clear in her approach to skin care. She works through the entire treatment (providing relaxing massage while the facial treatment is setting) and has a wonderful lineup of organic skin products to use and suggest.
As a holistic center, Holistic Touch also offers everything from massage therapy to nutritional counseling, hypnotherapy, Reiki and even EFT tapping. Tucked a few blocks off King on S. Washington in a historic row house, even the location is just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of King to help you unwind.
