Market might be the most exciting part about working at The Hive and The Shoe Hive. I’ve had the pleasure of joining Elizabeth a couple of times now. The first time I went I had no idea what to expect. The first showroom we went into I wasn’t sure whether to take it all in quietly or to let all my excitement out. Elizabeth started to “ohhhh” and “ahhhh” jumping from item to item, so I let it all out. At the end of the trip on the train ride back we discussed the different trends we saw we continuously saw in the showrooms for Fall 2017.
I know this seems like common sense but in every showroom the same trends would pop up. Now that pre-fall and fall are trickling in I’m reminded of all the fabulous trends we saw.
Pearls and studs:
Pearls are back and this trend is major. Not only did we see it in jewelry but on clothes and shoes. Yes, clothes and shoes. For us this was a must have, who wouldn’t want a tank top or jeans embellished with pearls? Or shoes embellished with pearls? Studs are also making a comeback. We saw this trend more on shoes than ever. This is the type of trend that you just have to go for. Don’t think about it too much, just throw it on. I styled our pearl Current/Elliott muscle tee with a dressier silk Raquel Allegra skirt and threw on some slip on sneakers with it!
I mean, when did animal print ever go out of style?! I am a firm believer that animal print will always be in style but this year it was everywhere. My favorite thing about animal print is that you can wear it with anything, treat it as a neutral. If you aren’t comfortable with that, put on an all black outfit and add a pair of cheetah print shoes or small animal print accessories.
Military style has slowly been making its way on our shelves. It started with camo and has now evolved into even more. More as in round buttons, exaggerated shoulders, and navy and green colorways. Tory Burch is even behind the trend this season! These Tory Burch military inspired booties go with just about everything. Put on a dress with tights, these booties, and some gold jewelry to accent the gold military inspired buttons.
Jewel tones refers to deep colors resembling gemstones. Some jewel tones can be bold and some can be subtle but for some reason they seem to flatter almost everyone. The Jewel tones that we have in The Hive and The Shoe Hive speak for themselves. They are bold yet subtle at the same time.
